I am currently on maternity leave from birth work, due with my second baby in February 2012. Please check back in coming months for updates. In the meantime, I can offer some recommendations to local teachers throughout the city.
- Beth Caban (childbirth ed for expecting couples, also offers homebirth-specific classes)
- Gillian Foreman (Bradley method)
- Shara Frederick (childbirth ed for expecting couples, also offers homebirth-specific classes)
- Yael Quittner (Hypnobirthing classes)
---------------------------
I completed a Lamaze seminar with Passion for Birth and am in the process of becoming a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. I plan to offer group classes in Brooklyn in the near future. The classes will follow the Lamaze philosophy with a focus on their 6 healthy birth practices, and will be appropriate for women planning to birth in a variety of settings, including hospital, home, and birth center. Please check back for more information in coming months.
If you're interseted in one-on-one instruction, I am available to teach private classes. Please contact me at info@jogreepchildbirth.com for availability, rates, and to discuss what you're looking for in terms of education. I have attended births in a variety of settings as both a doula and a homebirth midwife's assistant, so I am able to cater our meetings to your specific needs.
If you’re looking for a group class in the meantime, please visit the Lamaze website to search for classes near you. You can also find qualified childbirth educators through the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York, Bradley, and the NYC Doula Co-op.
